What is Ephedrine?
Ephedrine (Ephedra Sinica) is a plant native to China that is know for its ability to treat asthma, allergies, upper respiratory infections, and colds. After further research it was discovered that Ephedra had an ability to boost the metabolism while suppressing the appetite. It did not take long for diet supplement manufacturers to catch on and add ephedra as its primary ingredient. It would appear Ephedra was on track to becoming the obesity cure in America. That was until numerous counts of horrific side effects were reported.
What Are Some Of The Ephedrine Side Effects?
There were plenty of side effects to go around. Side effects included: Insomnia, headaches, trembling, nervousness, irritability, sever skin reactions, profuse preparation, itchy scalp and skin, dehydration, vomiting, hypothermia, irregular heartbeat, seizures, heart attack, stroke, or death. Others would question whether an ephedrine addiction could occur from a single dose.
Ephedrine FDA Intervention
It was only a matter of time before the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) would be forced to intervene after receiving an overwhelming amount of evidence against numerous diet supplements. On April 12, 2004, the FDA banned the sale of all ephedra-containing supplements in the United States. After the initial ban, several appeals would follow in an attempt to get Ephedrine back on the market. As of August 17, 2006 the FDA ban is still in place.
What Other Alternatives For Ephedrine Are Available?
Some people have a problem with the US Government telling them what they can and can not put into their bodies. What's concerning is that even with all the reported side effects, many will still attempt to buy ephedrine online. For those genuinely concerned about their health, take comfort knowing the following. Since the ban of ephedrine, diet pill manufacturers spent a lot of time and money researching a viable option to ephedrine. What they found was a safe, more effective alternative called Advantra Z. Advantra Z (also known as bitter orange extract) has been found to boost the metabolism, suppress the appetite, eliminate cellulite, burn stored fat pockets, and more. There are now a few diet pills available that combine Advantra Z with other well known diet ingredients (including Hoodia).
Diet Pills Containing Advantra Z
There are two products available that use both Avantra Z and Hoodia. Both products have been clinically tested and are considered to be safer and more effective than ephedra. NuPhedrine and Miracleburn were introduced in the 4th quarter of 2007. Since their release, the ephedra void has become all but a distant past.
