ATD: How can I manage nausea while on the Cabbage Soup Diet?

<br>

Question:

Today is my first day on the cabbage soup diet. I’m experiencing terrible nausea. Is there any way to manage this side effect while maintaining the diet. I like the idea of rapid weight loss to jump start a more reasonable diet. — Kim

Answer:

Dear Kim: Here’s another old fad diet that just won’t die!  It works like all the other fad diets do: It deprives your body of enough calories so you end up losing weight.  One side effect of a very low calorie diet is nausea; another common one is headache.  Ironically, these symptoms keep you feeling less hungry so you can stay on the diet longer.  And, like any other very low calorie diet, you’ll gain the weight back as soon as you go back to your usual eating habits.

I can sympathize with your wanting to jump start your diet for motivation, but in the long run, slow and steady is the way you’ll get lasting results.
