Thanks a lot, Ayo in the UK

Dear Ayo,

As with anyone trying to lose weight, you’ll need to get a handle on how you’re eating now so you can see how to change what you’re doing. I recommend keeping a food diary for a week to get an idea of where you may be able to decrease your calorie intake. Look especially for high calorie foods, large portions, and times you may be snacking. Start asking yourself, “Am I hungry?” and “Is there something else I could be eating that’s healthier” before you eat. Usually, just being aware is a huge help and you may find it relatively easy to give up 500 calories per day which will allow a pound of weight loss per week–without going on a diet!
