Rose, I'm not sure what program you're on but I imagine they're all the same on the subject of tea. Here at Smart for Life we tell patients that tea and coffee are fine as long as you use sweeteners instead of sugar and skip the cream/milk!

If you are on the SFL program and have any other questions, feel free to call your local center (or mine in DC!) and we'll be happy to answer any questions!

Laurie: For Smart for Life, the At-Home program includes 10-12 oz of protein so many of our patients like to break it into a lunch and a dinner meal. Also, we have a great maintenance program that teaches people how to reincorporate other foods after the program and keep the weight off.

Also, the program has been around for 30+ years, though it has changed and improved over time. Just because people are suddenly talking about it doesn't make it a fad diet--if fads lasted that long, I wouldn't have been so embarrassed of my mother's wardrobe in high school!
